Name: Shawn Scott

Occupation: Full-time state-certified taxidermist. Owns Soggy Bottom Taxidermy in Guyton.

 

What he does: "I can mount anything that's legally taken. We mount North American game to African game. "We use the best materials available, (such as) museum-quality glass eyes."

 

How he started: "It started out as a hobby, something to experiment to see if I could do it. I got to be good at it, so it evolved into a business."

His hobby started about 12 years ago when he mounted a squirrel he had hunted.

"Most taxidermists start on a squirrel because they're easily accessible, and if you mess up, you can easily get another one.

"I found I had a natural talent for it. I kept taking on larger and larger projects."

He incorporated his business in 2004.

 

Recent projects: A Texas Dall sheep. "I did it as a display piece for my showroom.

"I mounted a mule deer from out West. I'm mounting that for a local hunter, and I'm mounting an elk for him as well.

QA: Chest Freezer

Q:what is the ideal temperature to keep a chest deep freezer?

A: Why deep chest? I mean, people have different size torsos and all but still.

I usually pull for the donkey deep. So the answer is 20 F.

A: the recommended temperature for a freezer is -20 F.

Q: The center is a locking pin square like maybe a 1 / 4 "socket would fit except the plug itself is too big for the hole to fit in to enter the PIN. Any suggestions.
Lock is a round hole of a (square 4corners) pin in the center. If you take the back of a 1 / 8 "socket (the part that's going to ratchet), it looks like a crisis. But an outlet is to thick to fit in the keyhole. It 'opens I just want to be able to lock it. do not know how to change lock either. Suggestion?
