Syracuse's Storied Ra-lin Unveils A New Look, With More Room, But The Same ...
Ra-Lin.
Only much larger and a lot more decked out. A six-month-long top-to-bottom remodel of the Syracuse home electronics, appliances, jewelry and more store is unveiling right now, just as the busiest season for retailing winds up.
“It was time to do it,” said Alan Poushter, a co-owner of the sprawling Ra-Lin Discount at 625 Burnet Ave. “It’s been 25 years. It’s time to look toward the future.”
Gone are the creaking floors and meandering aisles of the old Ra-Lin. In is a wood floor pathway leading from the main entrance, past televisions — they’ve been moved up front where small appliances and electronics reigned — the jewelry counter, cameras and back to a wide open area filled with appliances.
That, too, has grown. There’s room for kitchen displays, with countertops. Shoppers can see the whole line of Electrolux, GE Profile and Frigidaire Professional kitchen appliances arranged in elegant center-store displays.
